To coincide with their latest album, Folie à Deux, Fall Out Boy has teamed up with MTVU and embarked on The Believers Never Die: Part Deux Tour in the U.S. The tour is traveling into late May with up-and-coming rock bands All Time Low, Metro Station, Cobra Starship, and Hey Monday.
The tour’s schedule includes a variety of venues across the U.S., so production & the band needed a small-but-powerful speaker system to use in amphitheaters, arenas, & theaters. After consulting with Clair, Fall Out Boy’s long-time FOH Engineer Kyle Chirnside & production chose to carry the versatile i-3 line array because of its compact size & wide horizontal dispersion. Along with the i-3, the band will be using Clair’s dedicated sub, the BT-218, and the powerful, low profile FF-2H front fill box for those getting up-close and personal with the stage.
Kyle decided to make the jump from analog to digital on this tour, switching from the Midas XL4 to the new Midas Pro6. Along with Clair system engineer Dave Coyle, they have taken a hands-on approach in helping the other opening-act engineers learn how to operate the console.
FOB’s monitor engineer Mike Baehler stuck with his trusted Yamaha PM5D-RH digital mixing console while the band are all using wireless in-ear monitors along with their drummer using a Clair ML-18 drum sub.
