The Atlantis is concert promoter I.M.P.'s latest venue in its impressive D.C. portfolio. Known for envisioning and restoring iconic entertainment spaces, I.M.P set about recreating the authenticity and intimacy of their original live music space, the 9:30 Club, by once again engaging Eighth Day Sound, a Clair Global brand, for live audio expertise.

To replicate the same rock n roll vibe of the original, a new approach was key for the $10m, 450-capacity concert space. Working alongside architectural acoustic consulting and engineering consultants WSDG, Eighth Day Sound continued its 30-year relationship with I.M.P and opted for a high-impact, small footprint system that would cater for a multitude of genres on their brand new stage.

The club’s small, rectangular layout meant that neither a line array nor a point source system was suitable, instead, an augmented array, an adaptive system, was chosen. The system’s 90-degree vertical dispersion enabled optimal floor and balcony coverage with just one hang. The end product has seen Foo Fighters, Pixies, Franz Ferdinand and Maggie Rogers among many other world-renowned artists play through the system, a great addition to the D.C. touring circuit.
