Situated in the Chamber’s Beaux-Arts style headquarters building, designed by the architect of the U.S. Supreme Court, The Great Hall at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is singular as a destination for American Presidents, heads of state, foreign dignitaries, corporate executives and small business owners, industry thought leaders, and policy shapers. Newly renovated, with the expert help of CGI, The Great Hall continues to host the most consequential conversations that impact business - and society - globally.
A building steeped in such history naturally required a top-tier design solution to upgrade its existing AV and lighting systems while upholding the beautiful and ornate integrity of the interior. Ensuring seamless technological integration and using timeless materials, The Great Hall is flexible, beautiful, and perfectly balanced, with a soaring ceiling designed by Library of Congress and Radio City Music Hall muralist, Ezra Winter. It celebrates the achievements of explorers who trail-blazed new paths for commerce and trade, and the room’s six stunning original chandeliers preside over 23,629,824 pixels that create 270-degree immersive, visual storytelling capabilities.
The installation criteria sought versatility as a primary factor to ensure that guests would be seen and heard from every corner of the room. The technology was designed to be set up in North, South, East, and West orientations, with seating flexibility including theater style, round tables, or U-shape, adding further complexity to audio, video, lighting, and broadcast disciplines. CGI installed 70 moving light fixtures for high visual impact and an array of LED video walls for enchanting virtual views. The new audio solution provides stereo sound in four selectable directions, with front fills and subwoofers for added, seamless coverage.
